Today we’re linking up with Shay and Erika to talk about how busy ladies work at keeping it together.
This month’s top is over a weekend!
We had a pretty fantastic weekend, I have to say.
Our weekends are typically on the road and not at home, but this one was a nice combo of both.
I’m going to start this one on Friday night.
Our Blue Apron for the week included this Bulgogi Beef and Soba Noodle Stir Fry. This meal was so delicious. I never eat an entire Blue Apron and I pretty much licked the plate.
My brother-in-law’s sister (say that’s one 10 times fast) got married a few months ago and had a BBQ reception on Saturday in our city. We got invited and they asked for everyone to bring a dozen of their favorite cookies.
I made our family gingerbread recipe.
I LOVE my KitchenAid.
This thing mixed up 6.5 cups of flour and didn’t even bat an eyelash.
While I was making the dough, I realized my meringue powder expired 2 years ago. So either I’ve been baking with expired food or it’s been a long time since I made royal icing. (I think it’s the latter.)
The Hubster ran to the store for me and I got this picture inquiring which one I wanted.
I went for the little one. 😉
The mixer kept up the good work by assisting with royal icing.
Lara’s wedding colors were ivory, copper, and wood. This actually fit in with my decorating scheme perfectly when I found copper food coloring!
The frosted cookies turned out super cute and were tasty.
I had to stop The Hubster from eating them so I would have enough to bring to the party!
By some sort of miracle, I didn’t get up until 9:30 on Saturday morning.
Usually I’m up by about 8 and lay around and read or something, but The Hubster said he was up at 7 and quietly slipped out of bed before he woke me up.

We didn’t have to leave the house until 2 for the party, so I got a little pampering in! 🙂
My feet aren’t dirty, they are just crazy dry and weirdly tan.
While The Hubster did some work, I made us brunch. Scrambled eggs with green onions and cheese with hash browns.
We ate on the back patio and I had some coffee in my new favorite mug. 🙂
I found it on clearance at the Hallmark store for $4.99!
The wedding BBQ was so much fun. It was super casual and everyone (but me…:-() swam. (The Hubster told me no one was going to swim and we should forget the bathing suits. Of course, everyone swam and I weirdly sat by the side of the pool and tried not to get soaking wet. 🙂
Congratulations Lara and Jerry! 🙂
So let me just discuss that my family and extended family has sing-alongs by the campfire.
When I first started dating The Hubster, I was all like, who are you? People do this is in real life? People randomly break out into song all the time and not on tv?!?
You guys, my in-laws do this. It’s amazing and a little bit crazy at the same time.
We got home around 11:30 and decided to relax on the couch and watch a little tv before bed. We just started watching Parks & Recreations (like the first episode started) and it’s super funny. I have no idea why we didn’t watch it before.
On Sunday, we accidentally slept in and didn’t make it to church.
Don’t tell my mom!
We went out to breakfast and I got the #7 and it was super tasty!
We stopped at Walmart on the way home to get some groceries.
I took a nap on the hammock in the afternoon sun and it was so nice and relaxing!
This is also about the time that my picture documenting skills went way downhill.
We had tacos for dinner with our neighbors on the patio. (See what I mean about the pictures…this was taken as we cleaned up! ooops)
I’m finally getting to watch this seasons episodes of Scandal while desperately trying to finish this Christmas stocking for my niece.
And I ended the weekend folding some laundry before bed.
We had a good weekend and hopefully that gives you a little peek into our lives.
The next 3 weeks we’ll be running around, so this was a nice little break!
