Just kidding.
Kind of.
Lots happening around here. I haven’t had a life lately post in awhile, so get a coffe and come on in!
Who else finds this sight terrifying?
I mentioned awhile ago that getting preggo isn’t so much working for us right now. I’ve been going to a ton of doctor appointments and having blood tests left and right.
So I probably should get used to this sight. But it never gets better. lol
I went on a work trip and my hotel room had a cool little lounge area. I felt very important and baller.
Until I realized that the water in my room was $12/bottle and I made my hands into a cup and drank sink water.
The second part of my work trip was an event at the Darwin Martin House. I mentioned it a few days ago, I think.
One of the legal firms we work with had events like this at various places around Buffalo and invite their clients.
You might remember this trip where I got yelled at for taking a selfie with a Picasso?
We decided this trip to behave.
Also the docents told us not to get too close, touch anything, or take any pictures.
So that really limits the opportunity for trouble.
The house is fascinating and really progressive for the 1900s. It was cool to see all the restorations they have done to keep it authentic.
I kind of want to visit some other Frank Lloyd Wright houses to see some of his other works. (Even though he was a brilliant architect, he was a royal jerk and I don’t think I would have liked him as a person.)
I have talkedย here and here about my FIL’s boat.
We had a lot of fun working on it with him. My SIL, The Hubster, and I painted and stained all day and the boat looks amazing.
We are all super excited to be back in the water this summer.
The Friday before our long weekend, The Hubster and I went out to dinner before my brother-in-law and sister-in-law came into visit. We decided to have some yummy drinks (a triple berry mojito for me and a local stout for him) and someone goofed around when I asked for a nice picture. ๐
We went out for brunch the next morning and the wait was over an hour, so we decided to walk around the shops for a bit.
I told them to never underestimate my abilities to shop, and of course found this adorable top. (similar top here) But with everyone waiting, I didn’t have time to fully try on the top. So I improvised and threw it on over my dress. ๐
This is the dress I’m wearing in case you were interested. ๐
I also fell in love with this fleece but it was kind of expensive so I passed. It is so warm and cuddly and I feel like I would wear it all the time.
It was on sale online in green for about half off, so I am the proud owner of a green one! I’ve been into green lately, so I think it’ll be perfect for those cool late summer nights and all throughout fall.
We spent some time at The Hubster’s Uncle’s farm. It was the 50th anniversary of the farm and lake, so we all hung out for the day. We got to fish, swim, and just enjoy seeing some of the family that we don’t get to see very often.
One of my co-workers is getting married in the fall, so a few of us from work headed to her bridal shower.
A few of us pooled our money together and got her a Roomba.
Oh my gosh – she was so excited! I think the next day she was still hugging it! After she let it go, she realized her dog is terrified of it, so she’s putting treats on top of it so that he won’t be so scared. Which is hilarious!
We had a bunch of friends over for a party on the 3rd and this is the only picture I took all day. How sad!
It was a really fun party and we had a lot of good food and laughs!
We spent the 4th at home. Our neighbors had a small picnic and we ate with them.
Then we settled in on the front yard/street and watched the other neighbors’ fireworks. It was the perfect fireworks show! Plus I wore my pajamas, so it doesn’t get better than that! ๐
Phew! That’s our life lately.
See you tomorrow with some Friday Favorites! ๐
