Workin’ It Wednesday

It’s time to join Shay and Erika for Workin’ It Wednesday!

We’re talking about balancing work and home life this month.

In January we talked about our New Year’s goals. Let’s discuss that of my 3 goals, I’m doing okay with only one of them. Good thing I have some more time to keep up with the rest!

And in February we kept it real with keeping our marriages strong.

So for March, it’s all about work and home life balance.

This is something I think everyone struggle with on some level.

The reality of my life is these 2 pictures.

I’ll be super honest with you guys. I have zero work life balance.

I went to school to be an accountant. After graduation, I went to work for a very large accounting firm.

So this was pretty much my motto for 5 years.

Except I had a client that didn’t have a traditional year-end and so my busy season pretty much started in mid-October and went through March.

I’m pretty happy that I was able to get my CPA exam done in the period between March and October or it wouldn’t have happened at all.

I left public accounting and went to work for a hospital system.

And life was all like this:

For real – I left work around 5 every night. I went to the gym. I took a cake decorating class. I ate dinner with my family a few nights a week. The Hubster lived out of town so I found activities to occupy my time.

Then I started working at my current job (which I love). So for the last 6 years it’s been this:

I know you think it might be funny, but for real, The Hubster works at least 12 hours per day. And my regular hours are 10 hour days.

We need help.

So I’m more of a cautionary tale. I have zero advice. ><

I am looking forward to reading everyone else’s updates and seeing if I can figure out how to copy them.

hehe

I mean maybe I have one piece of advice…

The $50 per week I spend on a cleaning lady is the best money I spend. Not having to clean the toilets and scrub the floors every week makes me a very happy camper.

Sorry, Friends. I wish I had better advice.

Next month we’re taking spring cleaning and I think I’ll have better tips. Maybe. Should I ask my cleaning lady for her tips? 😉

  1. I would LOVE to have a cleaning lady but my hours aren’t as crazy as yours so I do have time to clean at night. I just don’t like doing it! Ha! You guys are SO busy and I am impressed that you even have the time to do the things you do! When do you blog? I am impressed!
