I feel like our life lately can be summed up like this:
We’re super super busy and going constantly.
We have nothing to do and we go to bed at 9:30.
Well. Maybe it’s a little more than that, but you get the idea. lol
My Dad and his siblings had to just make the difficult decision to put my Grandpa (in the middle) in a nursing home. He fell recently and it’s become more obvious that he can’t really take care of himself anymore.
It’s really sad to visit him in there – he’s lonely and not in great physical condition.
We’re all praying for mercy for him that he really doesn’t suffer. It’s awful to think about him in the nursing home all alone.
This picture is from 3 years ago at his 91st birthday!
I take our friends’ kids out for their birthdays every year. This time it was Rosa’s birthday and we all can’t believe she’s 10 now!
I let the kids pick where they want to eat and what they want to do – I’ll take them pretty much anywhere they want. We’ve been to Chick-Fil-A, Olive Garden, Panera, and McDonalds. And we’ve shopped at Barnes and Noble, Walmart, and Joann’s – just to name a few!
This year I heard rumblings that Rosa was going to want to go to the mall and get earrings from Claire’s. I was a tiny bit sad she wanted to do mall shopping – she’s a tween now! (Although, really, you know I love any excuse for the mall!)
But alas, when it came down to the actual pick, she told me she wanted “more knowledge” and off to Barnes and Noble we went. It was a really fun night and I am so happy we have this tradition together.
The other night I tried these tiny tacos for dinner. They were amazing! I’ll totally be having them again!
The Hubster and I went out for a fun day together last weekend. We went out for brunch and since it was such a nice day, everyone else had the same idea.
We waited for about an hour for a table, but we hung out by this gazebo and I felt like I lived in Stars Hallow and was waiting for a table at Luke’s! 😉
We also found out that the town was having an antique sale so there were tons of cute little things to look at while we waited.
A few months ago, I visited the Darwin Martin House, which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. We discovered there are 2 other houses near us – Falling Water and Kentuck Knob.
The Hubster and I thought it would be fun to visit them since they’re so close to us. Unfortunately, Falling Water wasn’t accepting tours that day (?) so we headed to Kentuck Knob and it didn’t disappoint!
You can’t take pictures inside (as most of these museums go), so we took one last selfie before we entered and headed in.
The family that commissioned the house paid extra to get Frank to sign this tile. It’s pretty cool.
All of this woodwork was hand carved. It’s amazing that it’s held up to the elements all these years.
Yeah. I’ll take this view any day!!
I was about 2 seconds away from twirling around and singing the songs from the Sound of Music.
I was afraid The Hubster would leave me on the top of the mountain. 😉
Even the birds get to live in mansions!
After our tour, we stopped for some ice cream. I was super excited when we realized they served Perry’s ice cream. It’s a Western New York ice cream and I usually don’t see it anywhere else.
I had the One Buffalo in a cone and The Hubster had Peanut Butter Bon Bon in a dish.
Neither disappointed!
Since we were so close, we stopped at Ohiopyle State Park on our way home. We’d never been there and it was so beautiful.
Of course, The Hubster was not so happy I was making Boomerang videos. hehehe
It’s a gorgeous park and we’re planning to head back another day for sure.
We went out to dinner and my Treasure & Bond Merrick Perforated Sneakers debuted. They were really comfy and I managed to keep them white for the few hours they were on my feet!
Win!
Did anyone else find the memes for the Mayweather-McGregor fight to be super funny?
I amused myself with them for a few hours.
And I didn’t even watch the fight!
We also got to spend a day on the water! It was so much fun and we love love love being out in Lake Erie.
We sailed past the lighthouse, which is open for people to walk around.
My in-laws are for sure #marriagegoals
My brother-in-law and I joked that this meeting was for “The Originals” only.
Generally these “meetings” are best if we stay out of it. hehehe
The Hubster’s favorite place to eat opened a new location near his parents house, so we got to sneak away for a quick dinner.
I enjoyed a Vietnamese pancake and The Hubster had a bowl of yellow curry with scallops.
Two thumbs up from both of us!
I had to have some blood work done and they have a quick draw lab at the hospital by me. I popped in real quick after work and just as I got set in my room, there was an emergency in the room across the hall from me. I started to worry because my phone battery was dying.
Fear not – I was happy to find my charger was in my purse!
So the 20 or so extra minutes I waited was no big deal!
(The person across the hall from me turned out to be okay too!)
The only down side is that I had to have blood drawn. And by a lady who said, “hmm, I haven’t done this in a long time. Bear with me.”
It wasn’t bad. But maybe not so much you should say that to a patient.
Happy Thursday everyone!
