Come on in if you want to hear about the rest of our vacation!
This might be the only picture we have of all of us that traveled together.
We vacation with our good friends, Shawn and Meg. The Hubster and Shawn were good friends in college and lived together for a few years way back when. We got engaged and married within weeks of each other. Their daughter, Emma, is my goddaughter. Her godfather is one of Meg’s brother’s – who is in the pic too!
It was nice to travel with friends. We really enjoyed it.
The Hubster always finds cool stuff in the water. We came home with a million shells.
But the coolest thing he found (and we threw back) was this starfish. I didn’t realize until after I looked at this picture that it was camo colored! It was cool.
A panoramic of the beach and our view off the porch. ❤
For some reason, I couldn’t sleep in. The first 3 mornings, I woke up at 6am. Which is crazy. And so unlike me.
I would lay in bed/try to sleep/fall back asleep for awhile but usually was up by 7:30 for the day. (Maybe this is why I was sleeping by 11pm every night.)
When I was up for the day, I’d grab my Kindle and read on the porch. It was heavenly.
I love that this guy indulges in my selfie taking. He is much more amenable than he used to be. 🙂
The beach is my happy place. I know I keep saying it. There is no other place where when I sit down, my whole body exhales and all my stresses just go away.
It doesn’t have to be a tropical beach. It could be a small patch of sand next to a river.
I thought I had mentioned this in a previous post, but growing up, Cool Runnings was my favorite movie.
I got the movie on VHS (!!!) for Christmas one year. And I vividly remember that year because I was really sick. Like my mom debated taking me to the hospital sick. That morning I was still so sick I didn’t really care about any of my presents because I just wanted to lay in bed or on the couch. But I did get Cool Runnings, so I laid on the couch and watched it 4 times in a row.
Before you condemn me for being weird…I do this now with songs that I buy in iTuenes – will listen for like 10 times in a row.

Anyway.
I watched Cool Runnings every single day at least once a day that entire Christmas break.
The results of this obsession was that my entire family can now recite the movie from start to finish. #iamnotkidding #mymomstillquotesthismovie
Needless to say, being in a bobsled, in Jamaica, felt like my 10 year old self had died and gone to movie heaven.
And to top this off – when we got home, Cool Runnings was randomly playing on VH-1, so I stayed up late and watched it. Not kidding. It was like it was meant to be! hahaha
“Some people say they don’t believe, Jamaica, we have a bobsled team.”
“I see pride. I see power. I see a bad !@# mother who don’t take no crap off of nobody.”
“Feel the rhythm. Feel the ride. Get on up! It’s bobsled time! Cool Runnings!”
I could go all day. I’ll spare you.
Last cocktail of vacation. We really stretched the fun out as long as we could.
Waiting to get on the plane home. 😦 Sad.
Saturday morning, we decided since we didn’t have anything else planned, we should go on an adventure. So The Hubster found us this uh-mazing new brunch place. I have no idea how we hadn’t heard of it before, but it was the best find ever.
My breakfast tacos has avocado, eggs, salsa, sour cream, and this delightful chorizo. The Hubster’s eggs benedict were pretty tasty too.
We will be back to this place again. Like pronto!
The last fun thing we did was visit Mr. Roger’s childhood home.
It was just a cool thing to see. Of course, people still live there so I’m sure they’re sick of people driving by their house and taking pictures.
All in all it was a really great vacation. I’m so glad we did it!
