We spent a few days celebrating The Hubster’s 40th birthday and despite the weirdness that has followed us into 2021, I think we made the best of it! 🙂
We started 40 off with a giant sign of the Hubster’s head on the front lawn! 😂
(If you want your own 3′ sign of someone, Oriental Trading has some great options!)
We tried to decorate his office and for the first time ever, I had a foil balloon pop.
It wasn’t even that full, it just split right down the side.
Thanks to one of our really awesome co-workers, she helped us make do.
We’re hoping this isn’t a sign of how 40 is starting. hahahaha
I thought that 40 deserved a birthday treat, so I made cupcakes for everyone.
And I couldn’t resist these cupcake toppers.
Our restaurants just reopened, so we headed to one of our favorite places to celebrate with some friends.
It felt really good to feel normal for a few minutes.
My in-laws visited us for the weekend and on Saturday, I told The Hubster to go upstairs and pretend he had no idea what we were doing.
My mother-in-law and I set up his whole party – Cheers and Beers to 40 Years!
I was so excited to set up this little party for him!
I recently reconnected with a friend and she made this beautiful cake!
It was delicious and I wish I could just eat all of it.
It was also waaaay more cake than 4 people could eat. (Especially because one of the 4 is a diabetic and can’t eat it!)
I got these mugs and filled them with yellow and white paper to make it look like beer.
Doesn’t everyone want to have a funny tattoo of their husband’s face on their hand?
I made a really delicious charcuterie board for the main event of the party – a beer tasting!
I found a sheet that you can rank your beer and we all got down to business and tasted some local beer, some national beer, and one that we’ll never have again (banana bread).
We became addicted to canasta and played a few hands.
Then it was time for cake! 🙂
While it was the 40th birthday I had planned for The Hubster, it certainly was really fun and we were happy to have my mother-in-law and father-in-law with us to celebrate.
