I’m sharing the second part of our Asheville trip today!
Our Biltmore tickets included us seeing Chihuly at night and we could return in the morning to see the rest of the grounds.
So we decided to hit up the winery!
Also, Chihuly looks sooo different in the daylight.
I think we all preferred it lit up at night.
We love wine tasting! 🙂
(and yikes – what the heck my teeth look awful! I need to get to the dentist!)
There were these really cool paper things hanging from the ceiling in the tasting room.
The Biltmore Tasting Room was also the fanciest tasting room I’ve ever been in. They took reservations and there was a hostess to lead you to a table!
We mistakenly didn’t eat breakfast and thought we were eating lunch with this wine tasting. We were wrong.
So we might have been scarfing down these palate cleansers as a snack.
We might have gotten some dirty looks.
You can’t take us anywhere fancy.
We got a tour from one of the sommelier’s who taught us how they make the wine and all the new techniques.
And then…
We took a chocolate and wine pairing class!!
Not only did we get to taste some of these awesome chocolates and wine, but we got to learn why which kinds of wine taste better with different foods.
Peter, our teacher, was really so knowledgeable and taught us how wine making and eating is really a science.
The Hubster ate it up.
I just kept tasting the wine and chocolates. hehe
We then toured some of the museum and of course I had to take a picture of this vintage Louis Vuitton!
Ahhh…talk about first class luggage!
The rest of the day we spent hanging out.
Someone was super happy to be drinking Rocket Science beer while wearing his rocket science shirt.
#nerdalert
And we enjoyed the fire pit! 🙂
The next day, we decided to tube down the French Broad River and it was sooo much fun.
I know.
It looks dirty.
I had qualms too.
We all tied our rafts together (and the beer coolers) and just hung out while we floated around.
The weather was perfect, too!
Life is good.
For some reason, I didn’t take any more pictures this day.
It was our friend Ashley’s birthday, so we celebrated with dinner at Curate and it was amazing. Like we asked the waitress to give us the Spanish experience and she just kept bringing out more and more food.
Go there!
Before we left town, we stopped at New Belgium Brewing. Their brewery is really cool and there’s a fun outside spot where you can see the river and play games and chill.
On the way home, we found this cool scenic overview somewhere in West Virginia. It wasn’t really sunny, but the views were beautiful.
And that’s Asheville! 🙂
We had so much fun and would totally go again!
