We made it!
I mentioned on Wednesday that we are going to my niece’s Winter “One”derland party tomorrow.
I know she has an adorable party dress and her cake is going to be delicious!
The Hubster and I are gifting her this super cute chair. She’s going to look adorable sitting on it watching a show with her big brother.
I’m still dreaming about this bruschetta.
I know I’m not going to have it anytime soon, but I so want some.
I know she is a total train wreck, but can we please, please, leave Corrine on The Bachelor for a few more weeks?
She is the best kind of crazy to watch.
I have my doubts as to whether Nick really will pick her, but until then, this is the best kind of crazy.
This is so silly but so true.
Even at 6.5 years of marriage! 😉
Both of our cars are now paid off!!!
When I was in college, I needed a car to get to my internship. I always figured that I would get a previously enjoyed car. But my dad did the math back then and realized that if my parents helped me buy a car using my Uncle’s Ford family discount, it would be cheaper for me to buy a brand new (extraordinarily basic) Ford Focus. So my parents were awesome enough to pay a small down payment and with my internship money, I would be able to afford the monthly payments. (I was to save enough money over the summer to pay for 1 year of the car and then theoretically get another job/internship the next summer to pay for the next year.)
That only kind of worked out.
Because, well, I was in college.
$10 an hour at the time was a lot of money.
And my new wardrobe looked fantastic (at the time…now I look back and think – OMG you weren’t Britney Spears – pull up your pants!).
My parents had to help me out a little on a few payments when my “savings” had run out a few months before the next internship started. Really. It was only like 2 payments. And I paid them back when I started working more hours.
I had this Focus for like 10 years. Because once it was paid off, there was no reason to get rid of it. I’m not a car person, that’s The Hubster.
And I loved this car. I named it Sharky. And we had tons of adventures. No heat adventures. No air conditioning adventures. Getting stuck in the snow adventures. Minor car accident adventures.
But eventually it was time to get something new.
The Hubster and I agreed that I would pick the car and he would pick the engine. Since my main concerns were bluetooth and power windows (both things that Sharky did not have), the engine didn’t really concern me.
I decided on the Volkswagen Jetta – it had everything I wanted and The Hubster was happy with the engine choices.
And then he got jealous and decided to get a car too.
So we walked into the dealership and asked for 2 cars.
I’m pretty sure the sales manager almost kissed me.
I was sad to get rid of Sharky but it really was time.
Greta (the Jetta) and Rolf (the Golf) joined our family in 2012.
And now they are *finally* paid off and ours! I was diligent about paying a little extra each month and we were able to pay them off about 6 months early.
Of course now The Hubster is getting the itch for a new car. And I’m feeling like I just broke Greta in! 🙂
Hope you guys have a great weekend!!
