It’s been awhile since I last did a book club and I’m pretty excited to share my latest reads with you.
I have a feeling that I’m in the minority here, but I did not like Where the Crawdads Sing.
My book club picked it and I just didn’t love it.
For some reason, I just couldn’t get into it.
And I didn’t even read the whole thing. Which is really unlike me.
I’m sure I’m in the minority when I saw that Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine wasn’t at the top of my like list.
I thought she was a very strange character and while I totally understand why she was the way she was, it was just not my favorite book.
I have no idea why I read this book and it’s definitely rated R because #steamy.
It was amazing and one of those books that I started reading, looked at the clock, and realized it was an hour and a half later.
The story is about the killing of some girls in an Amish community.
I know, it sounds awful from the start. But the detective on the case was Amish and is now shunned but he goes back to his hometown to help investigate and sees his old girlfriend and it’s a whole story.
It was so good and the person I thought was the killer was actually not the killer but just a weirdo and long story short – I read it in like 3 days and stayed up way too late (and was almost late to work) because I couldn’t stop.
I have been a fan of Jessica Simpson since she was on Newlyweds. I thought she and Nick Lachey were the best couple ever.
I might have been just as devastated as they were when their marriage ended.
Not kidding.
I loved this book.
I love how open and honest she was about her life and owned who she is and was as a person. It takes guts to put yourself out there.
Look, I’m no better than anyone else when it comes to judging celebrities and sometimes she seems a bit crazy. But I’m impressed with how she takes responsibility for herself and genuinely seems to be in love with her life now.
You go girl!
