I’ve been out sick the past few days. And it’s been a little dramatic.
Sunday night my throat started to feel a little bit scratchy. I didn’t think much of it and went to bed.
Monday, we had off from work, so I headed to Urgent Care for a quick strep test. It came back negative and the nurse actually thought it was my sinuses draining into my throat. I got some allergy meds at the store and headed home.
Tuesday morning I woke up with a fever and just felt overall yucky. I pretty much stayed in bed all day.
Then on Wednesday, The Hubster told me to go back to Urgent Care if I didn’t feel better. And when I got up, I felt off, and my arms and chest hurt, like an ache. Plus I was sweating like crazy and my heart was racing.
Urgent Care got a little worked up when they realized my heart rate was in the 130s-140s and wasn’t really going down. They did an x-ray and an EKG and sent me to the ER immediately.
They confirmed I wasn’t having a heart attack but were concerned I either had a heart infection, blood clot, or some other heart issue.
I drove myself to the ER because it was like a mile away and the whole bunch of my peeps freaked out.
Please…I was fine. I drove myself. An ambulance would have been a little excessive.
Let me tell you – when you get to the hospital and they think you’re having a heart thing, they usher you into the room super fast and hook you up to a zillion machines super duper fast.
I did get a nurse who couldn’t draw blood out of my arm, so today it’s all kinds of fun colors.
After a battery of tests and a bag of fluids, they determined that I have a “virus” and was dehydrated. After I had the bag of fluids, I was back to my normal heart rate and on our way home with instructions to rest and drink a lot of water.
It was crazy.
I’m back home now and feeling tons better.
It was pretty much all the drama I need in my life.
