It’s our last What’s Up Wednesday of 2017! Can you believe the year went by that fast? Crazy!
It’s time to link up with Mix & Match Mama, Sheaffer Told Me To, and The Larson Lingo to talk about December stuff! 🙂
[what we’re eating this week]
We went to a Christmas party the other day and we’ll be eating all these yummy leftovers! 🙂
Also, The Hubster and I have a super busy week. So I anticipate a lot of canned soup and frozen pizzas this week.
I know. It’s not healthy. It’s not normal.
But it’s really what happens in my house.
[what i’m reminiscing about]
This is the Hubster and our nephew about 3 years ago. They were so adorable together and I’m melting just thinking about them playing trains for hours. Hours.
Michael might be a little too big to sit with Uncle Hubster for a few hours, but they still will play with the Polar Express this year.
Plus, our niece is just about the right age and The Hubster might have a new playmate this year!
[what i’m loving]
Starting Saturday, my work is closed for 2 weeks!!
I don’t have to report back to the office until January 8.
I am loving loving this development!!
[what we’ve been up to]
On Saturday, I convinced The Hubster to continue Christmas shopping so we could finish work on our lists.
The Hubster informed me that he had nothing done. (By nothing, I mean the only person he buys presents for is me. I do the rest of it.)
So we went our separate ways at the mall and I did my best to avoid him. I stuck to stores I knew he wouldn’t be going into. Like Gap Kids and Godiva. Towards the end of the shopping, I had to run into Hallmark to grab some wrapping paper. I got what I needed and the line was insanely long. Like it went to the back of the store. The rest of the mall wasn’t that bad.
I texted The Hubster about how these lines were no fun. He agreed.
When lo and behold, the reason the line was so long at Hallmark was because someone broke the credit card machine. And it was The Hubster!!
hahahahah
[what i’m dreading]
It has been snowing like crazy (cuh-ra-zee) in Buffalo the past week and a half. My dad is reporting that he has between 2 and 3 feet of snow.
While I love a white Christmas just as much as the next guy, I am dreading driving back in weather like this.
It’s just not fun.
[what i’m working on]
Want to know the easiest appetizer to bring to a party? It’s these mini cheese balls.
Don’t they look so fun and amazing?
They took 15 minutes to make!!!!!!!
Okay – so here’s what happened. We were out shopping (see above) and I totally forgot that I needed to bring a little appetizer to a party that evening.
So I stopped and grabbed one of those Kaukauna cheese logs and some pretzel sticks. I cut the log into 1/4″ slices and then cut each slice in half. Each half slice, I rolled into a ball, stuck a pretzel in it, and voila!
No one knew that it was a cheater appetizer!
[what i’m excited about]
When Calls The Heart is having a Christmas special again!!!
I can’t wait to watch it.
Although I think I won’t get a chance to watch it until we get back home for New Years, but that’s okay. I’m going to love it just the same! 🙂
[what i’m watching/reading]
I think we all know, and it’s very well documented, that I love Hallmark movies.
One of my favorites (of the new ones) is Miss Christmas. Brooke D’Orsay is the main character and I loved her on the show Suits. And this movie is just so adorable. I recommend it if you’re looking for a new one to watch!
I also just picked up this book – Christmas in London. It looks so adorable and I can’t wait to have a few days to sit down and read!
[what i’m listening to]
My family is probably the only one in America who listens to this Christmas album. (And when I say my family – I mean my mom, dad, and brother.)
My mom loves John Denver. She saw him in concert a few times and I remember when he died, she was sad for a very long time.
So this Christmas album has been a normal part of my entire life.
My dad puts this music on every Christmas morning and we all sing along.
The Hubster thinks we’re crazy.
But I love this Christmas music, I know all of the words. And it makes my family seem less far away.
So I blast it in the kitchen when he’s not home. hehe
[what i’m wearing]
Similar Top: Zoe Long Sleeve Shirt | Nordstrom
Jeans: AE Super Soft X4 Jeggings | American Eagle
Boots: Nine West Hold Tight Boots | Amazon
Sorry for the awful picture quality.
But I wore this to work the other day – it’s actually pretty festive looking in person. haha
Let me just say that these jeans are my new favorite black jeans. They are crazy comfy and I’m loving them!
Here’s a peak at the other stuff I’ve worn in the last few weeks. I have a post next Wednesday which wraps up some of my other outfits!
[what i’m doing this weekend]
See my what I’m dreading item above.
I’ll also be attending Christmas Eve mass with my parents and I haven’t done that with them in years. I’m really looking forward to it.
[what i’m looking forward to next month]
My Peloton came and it’s amazing!
I’ll be biking all through January! 🙂
[what else is new]
I just saw this Infinite Style by Ann Taylor is a new clothing subscription service.
I really like Stitch Fix but I feel like it’s getting kind of stale. Like some of the clothes I am getting aren’t really “me” and I’m only keeping like 1 piece of the entire box. So I might try this new service in 2018. Maybe I’ll love it! 🙂
[bonus: what is the best gift you’ve bought your man]
The best gift I’ve ever gotten for The Hubster was when he was still The Boyfriend.
He was doing some work on his car and I wanted to get him something for the car. I asked one of his car buddies and he suggested that I buy The Boyfriend a downpipe.
A what?
So we had a few phone calls back and forth and I ended up buying one from Australia and crossing my fingers that it would be here in time for Christmas. It was crazy expensive for me at the time, but I knew he would love it.
And he did! He was shocked that I knew what it was (where it went on the car is another story!) and that he had been wanting one and how did I know.
I earned major girlfriend points with that.
These days, if I buy The Hubster a Lego kit, he’s thrilled.
Hope you guys have a great week! 🙂
