So my Holiday weekend started off with The Hubster forgetting his regular glasses at home. Thank goodness he has prescription sunglasses because he wore them in the dark!
The rest of the weekend went far better! 🙂
We started off with a trip to the Sabres game. I don’t think we’ve been to one in many years. I think the last one I went to was when I actually lived in Buffalo. Yikes!
The best part of the night was catching up with this girl. Meg and I met when she started dating Shawn, The Hubster’s roommate. We got engaged within months of each other and married 6 weeks apart. I am honored to say that their daughter, Emma, is my adorable goddaughter. We don’t see each other enough, but when we do, it’s always so fun to catch up.
We ended the night with some drinks at (716). We have tried to go there a few times but it’s just never worked out.
You guys – there are over 90 televisions in the place. Including built in ones in the bathroom. IN THE BATHROOM.
I can’t wait to see Meg and Shawn at Christmas.
We kicked off Thanksgiving with some scones, my brother-in-law’s legendary (!!) coffee, and a viewing of the Macy’s parade with my nephew and niece. It was so much fun to see them and I’m hoping this is the start of a new tradition.
After the parade and lunch, we headed back to my parents’ house. It was really nice to just kick back and relax with them. We took these pics with my selfie stick. Which is why The Hubster is not in them.
I even got a piano lesson and concert from my Dad. He’s so talented.
Maybe someday I can take real lessons again and be able to play with both of my hands. Right now I am better with my right hand and it takes a lot of coordination to use both of them. And when I mean coordination, I mean I have to focus and I can only play 3 songs with both of my hands.
Foot pedals, you ask? Don’t even go there.
We ate dinner with both of our families. And everything was delicious and I consumed enough calories for the rest of the year.
And while The Hubster poo poo’d the selfie stick – these family pictures are pretty great.
Sorry I cut half your face off, Dad. The collage app wouldn’t let me make a different one.
Friday morning and afternoon I spent baking with my Mom. It was really fun to hang out with her and catch up.
Plus I got a lot of my holiday baking done. Win.
Friday night I can only describe as good for the soul.
One of my very best friends, Janice, and her husband, Mike, had us over for a dinner party. They also invited one of my other besties, Maureen, and our former co-worker and friend, Joe and his wife Kelly.
The 4 of us – Janice, Maureen, Joe, and I – haven’t all been in the same place in 6 years. My wedding. It’s crazy to think about it.
Dinner was so fun. Everyone’s kids were there. We ate some delicious food. And we really just enjoyed each other’s company.
I have a post planned in a few weeks about Janice. There’s so much I want to say about our friendship and how she’s one of my heroes.
Saturday started off with a fun Christmas parade. Hamburg, the town I grew up in, has it every year the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It’s basically the same parade every year, but I love it just the same.
This year was extra special because my nephew was in it! He was with his nursery school and his class was adorable!
We ended the weekend with a trip to The World’s Largest Disco! It did not disappoint our expectations either!
It was my friend, Joelle’s birthday and she requested a night at the Disco. So like the good friends we are, I scoured Amazon and found matching outfits.
My awesome sister-in-law did my hair. The volume she gave my mane was fantastic. It may never happen again! hahaha
Because I bought our outfits on Amazon, it was only natural that other people had our outfits. It was super funny when we found another guy who wore the exact same outfit as The Hubster!
Best part of the night? I ran into an old friend. I’ve known her for my entire life. We were adopted at the same time. Our parents were good friends. We went to grade school and high school together.
I haven’t seen her in ages and it was so random that we ran into each other. It was so great to catch up. We are going to try to get together when we’re both home at Christmas.
Side note: I have no idea why my arm is so giant looking.
Sunday we spent in the car driving back home. It was fun to hang out with our friends and family but I was ready to sleep in my own bed. 🙂
Now – let’s get to the good stuff – Gilmore Girls.
I had intended to binge non-stop on one of the best shows ever. But a thing called family got in the way. So I stayed up late to watch bits here and there and snuck in a few minutes when I could.
I’m about halfway through.
IT’S AMAZING. I don’t want it to end. Ever.
I am staying off the internet to avoid spoilers. But I can’t wait to see what happened.
It was a great weekend. Filled with family, friends, and love.
Now it’s time for Christmas! 🙂
